Our Story

The inspiration behind every meal we serve

There's a saying that goes, “Food is the language of the soul.” For me, it was not just about eating; it was about the love, history, and memories that came with every bite.

Growing up in a joint family, surrounded by grandparents, parents, uncles, aunts, and cousins, meant that food wasn't just nourishment — it was the thread that held us all together.

“Dinner in our house was never just about filling our stomachs. It was a sacred ritual.”

When the clock struck 6 p.m., my cousins and I would scamper back home, tired but happy after hours of play. It was time to wash up, freshen up, and gather in the family's prayer room for a few quiet moments of gratitude.

The Magic of Storytelling

But the real magic started when we all gathered around for the meal. The kids — us — would eat first, served lovingly by our mothers or aunts. The warm aroma of freshly cooked dishes would fill the air, and the sounds of laughter and chatter echoed across the house.

But what I remember most is the stories that accompanied each dish. As we dug into our meals, our grandparents would often gather us around to explain the history of the dish we were eating.

“This is how your great-grandmother used to cook this in the village,” my grandmother would say.

It wasn't just food. It was storytelling. Every grain of rice, every spice in the curry, every grain of lentils had a story behind it. And we were not just consuming a meal; we were learning about the richness of ingredients, the cultural significance of the dish, and most importantly — the importance of gratitude.

The Lesson of Gratitude

One of the most valuable lessons I learned from those childhood dinners was gratitude. It wasn't just about saying “thank you” for the meal. It was about understanding how lucky we were to have fresh, wholesome food on our plates every day.

It was a reminder of all the hard work that went into growing, harvesting, and cooking those ingredients. We learned to appreciate the farmers who grew the vegetables, the farmers who tended to the fields, and the cooks who prepared our meals with love and care.

That gratitude became more than just a formality; it was an ethos that shaped how we saw the world and, ultimately, how we viewed food.

Our Mission Today

Sharing the Legacy

As I created this supper club, I realized that this deep connection to food, to family, and to tradition was something I wanted to share with others. Just like my grandparents once shared the beauty of food with us, I want to pass that legacy on.

Healthy Indian Cuisine

I started this supper club for one simple reason: to create bonds through food & promote healthy dishes. Indian food is often misunderstood as overly heavy and fattening — I want to change that perception.

Celebrating India's Diversity

India is a vast nation with 28 states and 8 union territories. Each state has its own language, staple food and culture.

Through this Supper club I have named “Baithak” I aim to celebrate lesser-known dishes for eg Maharashtrian food which is one of the most healthy and balanced diet.

Why Baithak?

In today's fast-paced world, we often miss the joy of slowing down and truly connecting.

Baithak Supper Club is a return to those roots—offering a warm, welcoming space where strangers become friends, stories flow freely, and meals are savoured with intention.

It's about creating moments that matter—one soulful meal at a time.

As the evening unfolds, the chatter flows easily—discussions about old music, favourite travel spots, the kids growing up, and the unpredictable weather. It's the kind of conversation that just feels like home. Some of the guests reminisce about the days when they used to cook together with siblings while others talks about mother's famous Sunday roast. Everyone shares their personal stories, laughs over shared memories, and slowly, Baithak becomes a melting pot of experiences, all bound together by the simple act of having a bite.

When the dessert arrives, the conversation takes a turn toward the sweeter things in life—favourite childhood desserts, trips to the seaside, and the joys of raising a family. By the end of the evening, the group feels like family too. No formalities, no pretensions—just people enjoying good food and each other's company.

That's the magic of the Baithak.
